Activities

The Center aims to translate a selection of the Great Books of Islamic Civilization into English and other major languages. The Center currently provides English translations of major works of Muslim scholars, spanning the period from the 1st to the 9th century A.H, (700 to 1500 AD) when Islamic civilization was at its peak, greatly influencing contemporary world civilizations and laying the foundations for the European Renaissance.

The series of translations of Great Books of Islamic Civilization (GBOIC) include all major areas of Islamic intellectual pursuits achieved during this period. They cover a wide range of subjects such as law, theology, jurisprudence, history and politics, literature, medicine, astronomy, optics and geography. These books are authoritative sources in their fields and constitute a whole library of informative and enlightening Islamic scholastic works. The series’ books are translated and reviewed by qualified scholars and experts in their respective fields.
