College of Public Policy

This lecture will provide an in-depth analysis of the health conditions of Palestinians in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza, as well as the structure of the healthcare system, accessibility to healthcare, and the key contextual challenges for the governance of the system.

The second part will examine the devastating impact of the war on Gaza and the West Bank, including the destruction of healthcare infrastructure, attacks on medical teams, and the resulting public health and environmental risks. It will also address violations of international laws and regulations concerning healthcare in conflict zones.

The session will conclude with a review of health system needs assessments, priorities for both immediate response and long-term rebuilding, and the role of national and international actors. Key lessons learned will be highlighted, emphasizing the importance of effective governance and policy development in times of crisis.

This lecture is the first in a series presented by Dr. Motasem Hamdan, the CPP Distinguished Visiting Professor of Public Value.
