مايكل وولدريدج

Michael Wooldridge is the Head of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford, where he has been a Professor since 2012. He is the recipient of an Advanced Grant by the European Research Council - the most competitive and prestigious research fellowships available in Europe. Before joining Oxford in 2012, he was for 12 years a Professor at the University of Liverpool, where he was first Head of Department of Computer Science, and then Head of School (Dean) of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Computer Science.

Dr. Wooldridge gained his PhD from the University of Manchester in 1992. His main research interests are in the formalisation of rational action in systems composed of multiple autonomous software agents, and the study of equilibria in game-like concurrent systems.

Dr. Wooldridge was the recipient of the ACM Autonomous Agents Research Award in 2006; the award is made annually by ACM to an individual whose research in the area of autonomous agents and multi-agent systems over the previous five years is judged to have been particularly influential. He is an ACM Fellow (2015), a AAAI Fellow (2008), a EurAI Fellow (2007), and a member of Academia Europaea (2015). He was co-editor in chief of the journal ``Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems'' (Kluwer), from 2003-2009, and has served as an associate editor of Artificial Intelligence Journal (2009--2013).

He also serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Logic & Computation, Journal of Applied Logic, Applied Artificial Intelligence, Computational Intelligence, and Synthese. Wooldridge was elected President of the International Foundation for Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems (IFAAMAS) for 2007-09. His introductory textbook ``An Introduction to Multiagent Systems'' was published by Wiley in 2002 (Chinese translation 2005; Greek translation 2007; second edition 2009).
