Biography
Dr. Hanan Farhat is one of the leading experts on corrosion and materials engineering in the region. She is the founder and director of Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute’s (QEERI) Corrosion Center. She has a PhD in Corrosion Engineering and a master’s in Materials and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Her bachelor’s degree was in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering from Tripoli University, Libya.
Dr. Farhat is a registered professional Canadian Engineer. She holds international certifications in corrosion and inspection engineering. She represents Qatar in the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for corrosion standards, and the Gulf Standards Committee for Oil and Gas. She is one of the founders and the Chairperson of Qatar’s Association for Corrosion and Materials Engineering. Dr. Farhat is a women’s rights advocate. She established the Qatar Association for Women Engineers in 2020 and currently holds the Chairperson position.
