Neurodevelopment and Executive Function in Autism | HBKU
Qatar Biomedical Research Institute

Executive functions (EFs) control the integration of cognitive processes such as mental flexibility, inhibition, working memory, organizational skills, problem-solving, and emotional regulation. The link between executive function and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can be understood through a child’s behavior.

In this online seminar, we will focus on understanding the relationship between difficulties in EF and autistic symptomatology. The discussion will highlight the effects of executive dysfunction on individuals with ASD – including ways to improve social competence, everyday adaptive behavior, and academic achievements –  through early intervention and intensive support.
