Study Carrels

The HBKU Library allocates 2 sets of study carrels available at the main library in Minaretein:

• General Study Carrels

  Located on the second floor, the general study carrels, with and without desktops, do not require reservation, and HBKU members are welcome to use them on a first-come, first-served basis.
  At the end of their visit, users are requested to clear up the carrels and take their belongings. The library is not responsible for any lost or damaged belongings.

• PhD Study Carrels

  Study carrels with desktops for HBKU PhD students to help them focus on their coursework and dissertations. The carrels are available on the first floor and must be reserved via the form below.

PhD Students must abide by the following guidelines:

• The student has the right to reserve the carrel for a period starting from one month and up to a maximum of one academic semester.
• The student must use their dedicated computer for study and research purposes only, respecting the Library and HBKU IT policies, and the instructions governing the use of computers.
• The student must follow HBKU IT’s terms and conditions while accessing the network.
• The reservation of the carrel will be canceled if it has not been used for more than 30 consecutive days.
• The student is encouraged to save files on the Drive and not on the PC.
• As speakers are not allowed, the student is advised to use earphones/headphones.
• The student must be aware that:
  • The PC could undergo updates without prior notice.
  • Upon logging off, the files will be deleted.
  • The library is not responsible for any deleted/lost information on the designated computer.
