This seminar will explore how supervisor–candidate co-authorship shapes writers’ identity formation among doctoral students in the humanities, arts, and social sciences.
The seminar will delve into research that investigated students and supervisors from 18 Australian universities, providing detailed descriptions of the candidates’ writer identity formation.
Based on the findings, the research proposes that supervisor–candidate co-authorship be reconceptualized as “collaborative co-authorship.” It maps out supervisor–candidate co-authorship, highlighting the potential benefits and challenges of the practice in developing a candidate’s academic writer identity.
