About the Event

HBKU Sports and Recreation – Student Life is organizing a sports photography competition with three categories. Participation is open to all Education City students, staff and alumni. Registration will start on August 20.

Categories: 

  • Sports in Motion/Action
  • Extraordinary
  • Portraits

Details of the photography competition:

  • Contestants may submit three to five photos. Reporting the location where the photo was taken is preferred.
  • Contestants must respect ethical and legal aspects when it comes to the submitted images(s). Photos depicting any form of abuse or violation against human rights or the environment are not allowed.
  • Major changes in the images are not allowed. Frames, signatures, dates and other edits not allowed.
  • The contest’s committee has the right to request original work. Failure to provide the original file will mean that the award can be granted to another contestant.
  • Image(s) already submitted to and awarded in other contests are not eligible. 
  • Image quality should be 300 dpi and 3000 pixels.
  • Contestants should submit their images on a CD or a memory stick to the HBKU Sports and Recreation Center, or send an email to studentstaff@qf.org.qa. Images should be high quality and ready for print and publishing. Contestants must include their full name.
  • HBKU Sports and Recreation retains the right to use submitted images in publications and events. The photo owner’s photography rights will be reserved.
  • Submissions failing to comply with the conditions above will be suspended without prior notice.

The categories are as follows:

Category One: Players in Motion/Action

This category celebrates images from recent and major sporting events, or images that capture action-filled moments in sport, which may otherwise go unnoticed. All photographs under this category must have been taken during the HBKU football league and/or as part of Spring 2017 sporting events. Contestants may send up to five images under this category. The jury will choose gold, silver, and bronze medal winners.

Category Two: Extraordinary

This award recognizes images that capture the most surprising, bizarre and ‘unusual’ aspects of sports. Contestants may send one to five images under this category. All photographs entered under this category must have been taken during the HBKU football league and/or as part of Spring 2017 sporting events. Contestants may send up to five images under this category. The jury will choose gold, silver, and bronze medal winners.

Category Three: Portraits

This award recognizes portraits of athletes or sports figures. The committee will be looking for photos taken with a keen eye and a unique sensibility.
All photographs entered under this category must have been taken during the HBKU football league and/or as part of Spring 2017 sporting events. Contestants may send up to five images under this category. The jury will choose gold, silver, and bronze medal winners.
