HBKU at WISH 2018 | Hamad Bin Khalifa University

Another edition of the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) comes to Qatar, hosting the best of healthcare experts from around the world. To be held from 13-14 November, WISH 2018 will witness more than 2000 innovators, entrepreneurs, policymakers, healthcare experts and ministers from over 100 countries come together as one community to collaboratively work to achieve one goal: a healthier world. 

Supporting this collaborative and unique vision laid out by WISH, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) will be hosting and participating in numerous activities showcasing innovation and research work conducted by HBKU’s scientists, researchers, students, and staff. 

Chairing the Research Forum on Palliative Care and Islamic Ethics will be Dr. Mohamed Ghaly, Professor of Islam and Biomedical Ethics at the Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics, College of Islamic Studies. ‘Islamic Ethics and Palliative Care’ will be one of nine research topics that will form the focus of the WISH 2018 conference, with Dr. Ghaly leading the WISH Islamic Ethics and Palliative Care research group. The intersection of Islamic ethics and biomedical sciences is Dr. Ghaly’s main specialization. 

Speaking about her project in Stars of Science Season 10 will be Qatar Biomedical Research Institute’s Nour Majbour who will participate in a series of short talks given by Stars of Science participants. This series will be featured as part of the WISH Spotlight Stage. 

Many other information sessions, panel discussions and activities will see the participation of HBKU members supporting this year’s program at WISH where participants will get the chance to explore some of the world’s most exciting innovations, and contribute to the development of fresh insights that will help shape health policy around the world for years to come.
