The Next Generation Sequencing and Animal Models | HBKU
College of Health and Life Sciences

Genome wide association studies (GWAS) of common diseases have identified many genetic susceptibility loci that advanced our understanding of the pathogenesis of these diseases and highlighted new molecular pathways that can be used for development of new therapies. GWAS has been used to identify seven Paget disease of bone (PDB) susceptibility loci which were confirmed in multiple populations across the world.

This seminar will examine the combination of next generation sequencing and animal models to understand the mechanism by which two newly identified genes contribute to the risk of PDB.
