The capacity-building seminar aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to successfully implement the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) standards, specifically the IFRS S1 General Requirements for Sustainability-Related Disclosures and IFRS S2 Climate-Related Disclosures, in line with the Third Financial Sector Strategic Plan. These reporting standards are designed for large companies and listed companies to publish regular reports on the environmental risks they face and on how their activities impact people and the environment. The event will provide the audience with baseline requirements and guidance on applying the reporting standards.
The session will introduce and discuss the national approach, case studies on ISSB implementation and the related challenges, and sustainability and climate-related risk management.
The capacity-building event is jointly organized by Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE), Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority (QFCRA), and Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA), emphasizing the importance of industry-academia collaboration in supporting market needs. It falls under a grant led by Dr. Aassouli (LPI) on ‘’Exploring Islamic, Digital, and Sustainable Finance Practices in Qatar’s SMEs and Expat Households: Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices,’’ funded by the Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council (QRDI) and the Ministry of Finance.
The event will be held in English.
