COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon the completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

• Learn how to engage with  audience and learn from them
• Build stronger messages through presentations to large audiences
• Speak confidently in public 
• Learn how to open and close a speech.

• Learn how good body language can make your presentation more effective
• Learn how to conclude your presentation/speech.

Session 1: Fundamentals of Public Speaking (2 hours)

• What makes a powerful speech?
• Public speaking types
• Key factors in audience behavior
• Define your purpose & message for the speech
• Choose your style
• Structure the information flow
• Exercise

Session 2: Public Speaking Essentials (2 hours)

• Opening your speech
• The body of the speech
• Concluding your session
• Exercise

Session 3: Powerful Public Speaking Techniques (2 hours)

• Verbal communication skills
• Listening and hearing: They aren’t the same thing
• Asking questions
• Communicating with power
• Non-verbal communication skills
• Body language
• It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.

Session 4: Engaging your Audience During the Speech (2 hours)

• Using humor
• Storytelling
• Effective questioning
• Using aids
• Required tools
• The advantages of pre-writing
• Using colors appropriately
• Creating a plan B

Session 5: Cultivating Confidence for Public Speaking (2 hours)

• Harnessing nerves
• Dealing with difficult audience members
• When things go wrong
• Dealing with questions
• Make them laugh a little
• Encourage discussion
