Public Lecture: The Status of Humans and Animals in the Quran
College of Islamic Studies

The lecture will propose a reading of the People of the Cave “Aṣḥāb Al-Kahf” as narrated by the Holy Qur’an in light of the modern research on the human-canine bond and the Syriac tradition of the Youths of Ephesus, known as the Seven Sleepers. Such analysis indicates that the Holy Qur’an seeks to redefine the role and identity of this animal.

Speaker:

Sarra Tlili, Associate Professor, University of Florida

The lecture will be conducted in English.
