Education City’s Minaretein Building was the location for the third edition of Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) Student Research Forum.

This year’s Forum saw 19 participants from the College of Islamic Studies (CIS), College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS), College of Law, and College of Public Policy (CPP) share research projects covering education studies, digitalization, governance, socio-political studies, and language and AI in translation. A jury panel consisting of HBKU faculty members then evaluated each student on the quality of their research and communication skills.

Aisha Al-Mansoob, CPP, placed first overall for “Technological Innovation and Digital Transformation in Public Services." Noora Al-Sayed, CHSS, took second place for “English Language Assessment (ELA) in Qatar Public Schools,” and Rawan Elsheikh, CHSS, placed third for her project, “Wartime Rape in Sudan: Liminality and Biopolitics.”

Attendees also had the chance to vote for their favorite project, granting Aisha Al Kuwari, College of Law, the People’s Choice Award for “Contested National Memories: ‘Comfort Women’ in South Korea.”

Noting the continued success of the Student Research Forum, Dr. Abdolmehdi Riazi, Professor and Associate Dean for Research, CHSS, said: “The Forum is an annual opportunity for students to advance their research and professional development and become part of a vibrant research community within our university. Across its colleges, HBKU endeavors to inspire a mindset of continuous growth among our students, providing a cutting-edge learning environment where they can maximize their potential.”

Launched in 2023, the Student Research Forum serves as a platform for HBKU’s students to present their research and celebrate academic excellence with their peers and faculty.
