College of Public Policy (CPP) students were invited to attend the in-person opening ceremony of ROTA’s EMPOWER 2021 Youth Conference. The conference was formally opened at the National Museum of Qatar by Chairperson of Qatar Museums and Vice-Chairperson of Education Above All (EAA), Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. Dr. Leslie A. Pal, Dean of CPP, Dr. Logan Cochrane, Associate Professor, and an entire class were invited to be part of the ceremony.

Reach Out to Asia (ROTA) – a program of the EAA foundation – who hosted the event, partners with CPP on a number of activities (educational and others). The EMPOWER 2021 conference, held with Qatar Museums, was on the theme of “Young Global Citizens Co-Create Culture”, which aligned with Doha being selected as the “Capital of Culture in the Islamic World in 2021”. The students’ participation was another example of CPP’s efforts to ensure students engage beyond the classroom.
