Doha, December 12, 2021 – The Executive Education Center (EEC), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), is cooperating with the Qatar Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) to deliver an executive training program for 30 leaders from various Qatar-based charitable institutions.

The leadership empowerment program, which is especially tailored for mid-level leaders, consists of five training modules over a period of five months. The first unit was delivered on December 5-6. Titled “Analytical Thinking in the Charitable Sector”, the distinguished course was presented by Dr. Evren Tok, Assistant Dean of Innovation and Community Engagement and Associate Professor of Islam and Global Affairs at HBKU’s College of Islamic Studies (CIS); Aphrodite Hammad, Executive Director at HBKU’s EEC and HR Certified Trainer; and Dr. Dalal Assouli, Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator of the Master of Science in Islamic Finance program at HBKU’s CIS.

Participants were trained in the methods for developing analytical thinking skills to manage a range of professional situations. Sessions covered the characteristics of effective analytical thinking and its requirements as a cognitive ability for workers in the charitable sector. It also highlighted cognitive analytical thinking and knowledge building strategies. The session touched upon different types of psychological and practical pressures in charitable work as well as the strategies needed to overcome them.

Hammad said: “Qatar is a leading actor in charitable and humanitarian activities with the supervisory role of the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities being an important one. Developing professional capacities in this sector will further help these efforts and the impact of its humanitarian projects in the region and globally. This is an objective that the EEC is able to support through tailored executive education programs that are part of the multidisciplinary academic framework of HBKU.”

RACA was established in 2014 as the regulator of charities in Qatar. Ms. Maryam Issa Al-Fadala, Head of Administrative and Financial Affairs at RACA, said: “Specialized training programs assist RACA in providing continuous support to the charitable organizations who benefit from our services. We are delighted to work with HBKU’s EEC to build important leadership skills that will strengthen institutional governance and raise the level of efficiency and effectiveness of charitable and humanitarian work in Qatar, which is part of our mandate.”
