The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE), and Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s MA program in the Study of Muslim Contemporary Thought and Societies are to host a joint public lecture by Dr. Mohammad Akram Nadwi titled “Women Scholars of Hadith in Islam” on Thursday 31 December, 2015. This event will take place from 3pm to 5pm in the Auditorium of the new building of HBKU’s Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies within Education City.
Dr. Mohammad Akram Nadwi, a former academician and research fellow at Oxford University, will speak about his groundbreaking research on the female scholars of Islam in the field of Hadith. His work is hailed as a unique masterpiece in the history of Islam, analyzing the biographies of over 9000 female scholars from the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) until today in 57 volumes.
In addition to numerous research papers, Dr. Nadwi has authored and translated over 30 titles on language, jurisprudence, Qur’an and Hadith. Currently, Dr. Nadwi is focusing on his own writings, which include a comprehensive explanation on the classical Hadith masterpiece “Sahih Muslim”
This event comes as part of HBKU’s efforts to to foster an engaged society appreciative of its Islamic heritage, and that is equipped to address contemporary issues and challenges.
The lecture will be delivered in Arabic, with simultaneous translation into English available.
