In this exclusive interview, we speak to Sulaf Qaddoura, a Master of Science in Exercise Science student at Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s College of Health and Life Sciences, about her future aspirations, and why the master’s was her program of choice.
Please tell us about your area of study at HBKU and what motivated you to pursue this area of study at HBKU?
I am always seeking to advance my further knowledge in the fields that I like. Within the area of exercise science, I am advancing my studies at the College of Health and Life Sciences to gain a better understanding of the human body and what happens within.
What are your short-term and long-term aspirations?
My short-term ambitions are to advance my knowledge with each scientific course. On the long-term, I would like to utilize my studies on the pathway to more achievements and be able to reflect these achievements on my CV to become a better version of myself.
How have your studies helped you develop and advance your career?
I’m still in an early stage of my studies but I am looking forward to the day I am done when I can apply for a relevant job, and perhaps even work as a teaching assistant.
What is the impact you see yourself making in your society in the future?
Through my studies, I can help intertwine theory and practice to find a better way to help people achieve their goal of having an adequate level of weight loss and enhancing their overall health.
What was the highlight of your time at HBKU, and why?
Although we began our studies with the pandemic in place, the online learning experience was very unique and presented a good overview of what the university does, as well as how I can interact with my peers
Any additional thoughts for potential HBKU applicants.
I want all aspiring students to know that obtaining your degree may not be easy, but will definitely be a rewarding experience.
