Welcome to the Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) Student Affairs webpage. This platform is an essential resource for our students and alumni, both throughout and after their academic journey at HBKU.
This webpage aims to create an online community where students can engage themselves through Student Affairs’ services, as well as co-curricular activities, such as student engagement, leadership activities, experiential learning, and community outreach. It also strategically provides help and assistance to resolve any problems that may arise as students pursue their degrees and is the first contact for questions, concerns, or issues pertaining to the learning environment.

Career Services
The Student Employment Program provides HBKU students with part-time jobs on campus in order to gain work experience. Students can view and apply for a job through: sep.hbku.edu.qa
SA coordinates with local and international entities for internships and employment.
HBKU partners with entrepreneurial organizations that provide workshops focusing on startups and entrepreneurship competitions.
SA provides student workshops to prepare students for employment. The workshops focus on interview skills and general professional skills.
SA provides CV review services to HBKU students throughout the year.
The Employer Network is a session where students are given the opportunity to network with employers from different industries, providing them with a range of job opportunities.
HBKU community classes aim to provide excellent training to the local community in various subjects, to enhance essential learning and development.
Community classes provide members of the public with an enriching experience that expands their horizons intellectually, culturally, and personally.
SA delivers outreach programs and information sessions locally and internationally to both governmental and private institutions, as well as universities. SA participates annually in post-graduate and educational fairs around the globe to promote HBKU.
Alumni Services
Alumni services offered to HBKU graduates include facilitating access to QF’s recreational facilities and sharing job opportunities and internships on a regular basis.
The Alumni Association at HBKU provides a strategic platform to strengthen the interaction with HBKU alumni by fostering programs that are of interest and support the strategic objectives of the university.

Student Engagement
Serves as a two-way communication channel between staff and students, bringing information to the attention of staff. The SRC provides HBKU students with a voice to express ideas, suggestions, concerns, needs, requests, or issues. Additionally, the SRC creates events tailored to and based on students’ interests. Members of HBKU SRC are elected by the students of their respective colleges.

Your perspectives are vital in helping us improve our programs, services, and the overall quality of your education. In addition to creating a bridge between students, student organizations allow for a holistic university experience that includes extracurricular activities. Seeing as the majority of our HBKU students are postgraduates, student organizations give them a chance to develop their leadership skills as well as their interests away from work or classroom environments.
Student Life Awards are annual non-academic awards. The awards aim to recognize exceptional students who have made noteworthy contributions to the university outside of academia. Awardees are evaluated for their informal learning through participation in co-curricular activities, involvement in the arts, community service, community engagement, student leadership, competitions(non-sports), and sports accomplishments.
Three Minute Thesis (3MT) is a contest open to doctoral students, launched by the University of Queensland, Australia, and brought to HBKU by HBKU Student Affairs. The 3MT competition requires competitors to deliver a succinct overview of their thesis to a non-specialist audience, in three minutes. Competitors are required to present their research using a single static slide. A panel of three judges assesses competitors based on comprehension, content, engagement, and communication.
Sports & Recreation
The Sports Section at HBKU aims to enhance students’ general well-being and encourage healthy lifestyles through sports and other activities. Participation is open to all HBKU students with knowledge of the various sports.

The HBKU Sports Club provides students an opportunity to participate in a competitive sports club. This enterprise enhances their college-life experience and provides a vehicle for a well-rounded education through physical, social, and leadership development.

Students Health & Wellbeing
The Student Affairs Office provides information and guidance for students on how to access various healthcare facilities. Those include the relevant public healthcare centers run by the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC). To access PHCC centers, students must have a Hamad Health Card. Students are strongly advised to apply for a Health Card as soon as they arrive in Qatar. Students who have private health insurance can also access the various clinic services available at QF Primary Health Care Clinic. Appointments are made by telephone ( 4454 0222 - 4454 1244 - 7105 0222). Students can also access private healthcare facilities at their own expense if they wish to do so.
HBKU has a dedicated counseling and mental health service. The service is led by Dr. Rudwan Abdul-Al, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist and Student Counselor. Counseling is provided at the Qatar Foundation Primary Health Care Clinic (QF PHCC) located at the Multaqa building. Students can have individual counseling sessions. Group sessions can also be organized. Awareness and information seminars are run throughout the year. More details can be found on the HBKU Student Health webpage.

Students can benefit from the psychiatric clinic provided by HBKU which is located at QF Primary Health Care Clinic. Consultations are provided by Dr. Rudwan Abdul-Al, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist and Student Counselor. Services include assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric disorders. This service is provided free of charge for HBKU students (cost of medication and investigation excluded).

Regular mental health forums are held at Shamali and Junoubi housing. The forums are for community development advisors (CDA). If students would like to discuss mental health issues in the housing, they can contact one of the HBKU CDAs for information about the next forum.
The counseling services run the “Health Matters” series across the academic year. During which they cover important mental and physical health topics. Details of forthcoming sessions, including topics and dates, are circulated by email to all the HBKU community.
Facilities
Located on the Ground Floor-A.006 at Minaretein (College of Islamic Studies building), the student lounge is a great space for students to spend their free time, work on projects, and socialize with each other. Students can also de-stress with a quick game at the foosball and billiard tables installed in the lounge
Qatar Foundation Services
A need-based, interest-free loan program that gives you an equal opportunity to receive a quality university education. All students who have been accepted into one of the undergraduate programs in Education City and can demonstrate financial need are eligible to apply. Students can repay their loan after graduation either through repayment (as a percentage of their monthly income) or via paid service.
