Sustainable development at core of cross-disciplinary discussions

HBKU’s College of Science and Engineering to Convene 12th International Exergy Energy and Environment Symposium

In keeping with its vision to advance knowledge with significant positive impact, the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) will convene the 12th International Exergy Energy and Environment Symposium (IEEES-12) from December 20-24. 

The virtual IEEES-12 is co-organized with KAHRAMAA as a strategic partner, and sponsorship from Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF). Other international event partners are the National Hydrogen Association, Turkey, and Ontario Tech University, Canada.

Academics, researchers, scientists, technocrats, and practicing engineers from different disciplines, institutes, and sectors from all over the world will engage in an open dialogue and collaborative discussions toward achieving sustainable development. The symposium is intended to increase the visibility and advancement of futuristic and cleaner technologies, and will focus on renewable and sustainable energy technologies, oil and gas technologies, smart grids, e-mobility, desalination technologies, sustainable agriculture, wastewater treatment, among other topics.

The scientific part of IEEES-12 will include keynote speeches from several globally well-known academicians, plenary sessions, virtual presentations, and specialized parallel sessions. CSE will be represented in the sessions by various presentations from the Division of Sustainable Development and Division of Engineering Management and Decision Sciences. 

Dr. Mounir Hamdi, Founding Dean, CSE, said: “As the host of IEEES-12, CSE looks forward to the high-quality research results that will be presented during the symposium. The event will help develop new policies and scientific progress towards achieving sustainable development, and will also be of tremendous value in positioning the College of Science and Engineering as a hub of knowledge in the center of research and education within these fields. We are confident that IEEES-12 will lead to fruitful and collaborative discussions between participants from different disciplines, institutes, and sectors from all over the world.”

Organized as a leading symposium since 2003, IEEES-12 is expected to have an even wider reach in terms of technical content, networking opportunities, as well as virtual program.
