Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation, in collaboration with its partner universities across Education City, gathered together employers and potential employees for the Education City Career Fair 2017. This annual two-day event, which is sponsored by Qatar Shell and is now in its third year, was inaugurated with a short ceremony attended by representatives of the participating universities and the event sponsor on Monday, February 6th at the HBKU Student Center.
The Education City Career Fair offers students and alumni from across all universities with campuses within Education City the opportunity to interact with representatives from more than 90 national and international organizations. Potential employers at the fair include companies from the energy, finance, technology, medicine, education, and media sectors. By gathering organizations specializing in various fields at a single location, the fair encourages participants to explore a wide range of career options when considering their future profession.
Across the two days, the event anticipates attracting in excess of 1,000 highly qualified job seekers from the Education City student community. Students and alumni engage directly with representatives from all organizations to better understand their hiring process. The interactions are also intended to assist participants in becoming familiar with each employer’s work culture, operating style, hiring programs, and specific current needs.
Collaborating with HBKU and Qatar Shell to hold this event are Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar, Texas A&M University at Qatar, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar, Northwestern University in Qatar, HEC Paris in Qatar, and UCL Qatar.
Maryam Hamad Al Mannai, Vice President of Student Affairs at HBKU, noted: “HBKU and its partner universities across Education City excel at developing hard-working graduates passionate about finding creative and innovative solutions to unique challenges in their respective fields. Local, regional, and international employers return to the Education City Career Fair each year because they are pleased by the quality of our graduates and impressed by their energy and drive to succeed.”
Qatar Shell, which is sponsoring the EC Career Fair for the third consecutive year since 2015, is also active in this year’s event.
