CPP Professors Contribute to Public Administration Book Series

A new book, “Civil Servants and Globalization: Integrating MENA Countries in a Globalized Economy”, was recently published in the Bristol University Press’ Book Series on Transnational Administration and Global Policy.

Dr. Kim Moloney, Assistant Professor, CPP, is the co-editor of the book series with Dr. Michael W. Bauer, European Union Institute, and Dr. Meng-Hsuan, Nanyang Technological University. Dr. Leslie A. Pal, Founding Dean of CPP, is a Board Member of this Book Series.

The authors trace how transnational institutions and the ideas of globalization impact civil servants in four MENA countries (Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, and Tunisia), which all have seen a step up in global engagement. The authors create a theoretical framework to analyze the bureaucratic accountability and values that arise in transnational administration and governance. They study global performance indicators, direct engagement, and global open government-based norms, among other transmission channels.
