Prof. Javaid Sheikh, Dean and Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q), is an internationally renowned medical executive and creative thought leader in global academic medicine. During his tenure as Dean of WCM-Q since 2010, Prof. Sheikh has pioneered innovative biomedical educational and research programs enabling WCM-Q to become widely acknowledged as a leading institution preparing “Global Physicians” for the 21st century.

Prior to joining WCM-Q in 2007, Prof. Sheikh built a distinguished career at Stanford University School of Medicine in California as a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He also served as Associate Dean at Stanford, Chief of Medical Staff at the Palo Alto VA Healthcare System, and Chairman of the Board of the Palo Alto Institute for Research and Education.

Prof. Sheikh is also the co-founder (along with Victor Dzao, President National Academy of Medicine, US) of ‘Innovations in Global Health Professions Education’, a globally interconnected digital platform dedicated to profiling innovations in conceptual, pedagogical and technological innovations in the rapidly changing field of medical and health education.

Prof. Sheikh has extensive experience of more than three decades as an advisor for multiple pharma and biotechnology companies in Silicon Valley, Singapore, and the GCC countries. He is particularly interested in the AI, IOT, EdTech, and biotechnology spaces.
