Discover Education City, the largest education fair for prospective students in Qatar, is set to open its doors to the public on October 10 and 11 at the HBKU Student Center in Education City (EC). Nine universities from across EC will be present at the annual event to provide a comprehensive overview of their academic offerings to visiting members of the community in Qatar.
Building on the success of the 2016 event, this year’s fair will continue to include graduate programs at master’s and doctoral levels, as well as undergraduate and foundation programs that are offered by HBKU and the eight international campuses operating within EC.
The two-day event will involve several sessions during the day. On October 10, a morning session will take place from 9 am to 12 pm, whereas an afternoon session will extend from 4 pm to 8 pm. A third and last session will be held on October 11 from 9 am to 12 pm. All sessions are open to the public and no registration is required.
Discover Education City was conceptualized by HBKU, Qatar Foundation’s (QF) only homegrown university, to provide a preview of EC’s academic programs to high school students, recent college graduates, and working professionals. The event is organized by level of study, and encompasses the offerings of nine universities: Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar, Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar, Texas A&M University at Qatar, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Georgetown University in Qatar, Northwestern University in Qatar, HEC Paris in Qatar, and UCL Qatar.
During the event, admissions staff from all participating institutions will be on hand to give visitors a deeper understanding of each program’s admissions process and requirements. This is particularly helpful for interested students who wish to navigate the dynamic range of study options within each of the different universities. Additionally, students advancing from high school to education at the university level will have the chance to learn about QF’s Academic Bridge Program, which is specifically designed to facilitate the transition from secondary to undergraduate education. This makes Discover Education City a one-of-a-kind window for experiencing the myriad opportunities that exist within EC.
Ms. Maryam Al Mannai, vice president of student affairs at HBKU, said: “For young students, choosing an academic or career path can be a daunting task, especially when it comes to university-level education. We encourage students to attend Discover Education City where our experts will provide them with insight into the various institutions and programs on offer, and help them make the right decisions for their academic progression. We urge members of the wider community in Qatar to visit the event for the guidance and support needed in choosing the right program from HBKU’s innovative offerings that are tailored to provide multidisciplinary education in a variety of fields.”
