In celebration of its collaborative relationship with media outlets from across Qatar’s print and broadcast landscape, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development, hosted its first annual Media Appreciation Suhoor on June 11, 2018 at the Four Seasons Hotel Doha.

The event drew together prominent representatives of the local media scene, who were able to enjoy an informal evening of dinner and networking with members of the HBKU Communications team. The successful evening was rounded off with the presentation of Certificates of Appreciation to all media members in attendance.

In his welcome address to the distinguished guests, Marketing Manager at HBKU Communications Houssam El Zein said: “Our media colleagues are instrumental partners in HBKU’s strategic communications objectives. As the 2017-18 academic year has recently drawn to a close, we want to take this occasion to laud our partners’ outstanding support in publicizing HBKU’s efforts and successes to the local community.”

He continued: “With a robust media calendar throughout the academic year, our professional media efforts are closely entwined; it is thus crucial to pause and acknowledge that – in many ways – our successes are also shared achievements. We look forward to continuing on this path of professional respect, collaboration and support in years to come.”

HBKU’s effective stakeholder outreach is, in large part, made possible through the media’s contributions of asking pertinent questions that concern the

local community; conducting in-depth interviews for print, radio and television with the University’s wide range of subject matter experts, faculty and researchers; as well as providing quality on-site event coverage to a myriad of special college lectures, functions, and celebrations spread across the year.

Marking the beginning of the last ten days of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Suhoor was an ideal culmination of the seasonal spirit of reflection, gratitude and joint celebration. prior to the commencement of HBKU’s Fall 2018 semester that is set to kick off with the New Student Orientation in September 2018.
