Writing is a multifaceted intellectual process that requires thoughtful planning, drafting, reviewing, and revising. Engaging actively in your consultation session is essential to developing as a writer and producing quality work. When you come to your consultation session, keep in mind that:
- Your WCM assignments/projects need time, so plan ahead of time and schedule an appointment with your consultant early on in the writing process.
- Your WCM assignments/projects involve multiple drafts, so be ready to book multiple sessions.
- Your WCM assignments/projects involve different stages of learning, so be prepared to actively ask questions and engage. Remember, your WCM consultants are here to support you but not to do the work for you.
- Help you brainstorm and shape your ideas according to your assignment rubrics.
- Offer constructive feedback on content (tone and language), structure, organization, and flow of ideas in your writing.
- Guide you on citations and references as outlined in the assignment rubric.
- Provide technical support for presentation slides, posters, and e-portfolios.
- Share practical tools and tips for writing, communication, and multimedia assignments.

The topics include but are not limited to:
- Team building
- Lab report writing
- Technical report writing
- Reflective writing
- Presentation skills
- Poster design
- e-Portfolio design
We also closely work with faculty to design new workshops or adapt existing ones to meet their specific course needs. If you have any questions, contact us at lworku@hbku.edu.qa.
