Biography
Dr. Kabir Hassan Biswas is an Assistant Professor at the College of Health and Life Sciences at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. He obtained his Master's and PhD in 2007 and 2011, respectively, through the prestigious Integrated PhD program at the Indian Institute of Science. Subsequently, he moved to Singapore for postdoctoral studies at the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University.
Dr. Biswas’s laboratory adopts an interdisciplinary approach, combining computational and experimental techniques for fundamental understanding and developing therapy to treat cancer metastasis, cardiovascular diseases, and infectious diseases. These approaches include the utilization of deep learning and other computational methods for protein design and drug discovery (simulations/interface analysis, ligand screening), engineering highly sensitive and specific bioluminescence-based biosensors (SARS-CoV-2 oligo and proteases, cGMP) and developing biointerfaces for reconstituting receptor-ligand signaling (SARS-CoV-2 spike protein-ACE2, cadherin).
Dr. Biswas has been awarded several research grants (Academic Research Grant, HBKU Thematic Research Grants, and several Industrial Innovation Fund grants) and has published in high-impact journals (Science, Proc Natl Acad Sci USA, N Engl J Med, Nat Commun). Additionally, he has delivered several invited talks (Annual Meeting of the Biophysical Society and Gordon Research Conferences). He has also been awarded the Yamaguchi Medal and Mrs. C V Hanumantha Rao Medal.
