Reem Elasad earned her BSc degree in Biological Sciences in 2019 from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar. In 2017 as a sophomore, she was awarded a QSIURP grant to investigate a novel post-transcriptional mechanism of PTEN inhibition in breast cancer. She continued working on the project in her senior year, as she was further researching the tumor suppressor function of PTEN in breast cancer. The project findings gained awards from QNRF in 2018 and were recognized by MDPS in 2018 and 2019. Elasad joined CMUQ in 2020 as a Research Assistant, working on isolating and purifying two proteins for a drug discovery project. In 2021, she joined QBRI Cancer Research Center (CRC) as a Research Assistant, with the focus on identifying novel gene/immune signature biomarkers in triple-negative breast cancer.
