Professor Freddy Boey is the President of City University of Hong Kong.

Professor Freddy Boey held the position of Deputy President (Innovation & Enterprise) at the National University of Singapore from January 2018 to December 2022. Prior to that, he served as Provost from January 2011 to December 2017 and was the Chair of the School of Materials Science and Engineering from January 2004 to December 2010 at the Nanyang Technological University.

During his tenure as Deputy President at the National University of Singapore, he played a significant role in revolutionizing the university's approach to deep technology commercialization. Within the initial three years, he managed to quadruple the number of deep tech start-ups through the implementation of the Graduate Research Innovation Program (GRIP), effectively establishing it as Singapore's leading program for deep tech start-ups.

In 2013, Professor Freddy Boey was honored with Singapore's highest Scientific Award, the President's Science & Technology Medal, recognizing his remarkable contributions and achievements in biomedical research. The same year, he was also bestowed with the esteemed Imperial College London Faculty of Medicine Fellow award for his outstanding accomplishments in the field. Under his leadership, his research team received the prestigious 2014 Singapore President's Technology Award for their innovative use of nanostructures in drug delivery to address vision impairment caused by glaucoma. During his tenure as Provost, he successfully established Singapore's second Undergraduate Medical School in partnership with Imperial College London, earning him the esteemed 2016 Singapore National Day Public Administration Gold Medal. In addition, he has received an Honorary Doctorate from Loughborough University and honorary professorships from the University of Indonesia, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and Nanjing Tech University.
