The College of Public Policy (CPP) recently presented a roundtable “Education Policies for a Sustainable Future”, chaired by Dr. Leslie A. Pal, Founding Dean of CPP. The session highlighted the need to update educational policies to ensure that future generations have the necessary critical systems thinking and problem-solving skills to create innovative solutions for sustainability challenges. These skills must also encompass their ability to understand and tackle the complexity of climate change. 

أطلقت كلية السياسات العامة بجامعة حمد بن خليفة أحدث برامجها، وهو برنامج ماجستير السياسات الاجتماعية وتقييم البرامج، الذي يُقدَّم على مدار عامين بنظام الدوام الكامل ويزود الطلاب بفرصة فريدة لتطوير المهارات بهدف صياغة التوجه الاستراتيجي للسياسات الاجتماعية وتقييم البرامج داخل دولة قطر وخارجها. ويتميز البرنامج، الذي يبدأ تقديمه اعتبارًا من شهر سبتمبر 2022، بأنه مفتوح للطلاب من جميع المجالات لا سيَّما الأفراد الذين يتمتعون بخبرات عملية في مجال السياسات الاجتماعية أو تقييم السياسات أو كليهما.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU)’s College of Public Policy (CPP) has launched its newest program, the Master of Social Policy and Program Evaluation (MSPPE). The full-time two-year MSPPE offers students a unique opportunity to develop the skills to shape the strategic direction of social policy and program evaluation in Qatar and further afield. Commencing in September 2022, the program is open to students of all fields particularly those with work experience in social policy and/or policy evaluation. 

قبل عامين، تعرض العالم لهزة عنيفة بسبب ارتفاع أعداد المرضى الذين يعانون من مرض مجهول السبب أثر بسرعة على كل البلدان تقريبًا. وتعرف العلماء على السبب الذي أدى إلى تفشي المرض وتوصلوا إلى أنه المتلازمة التنفسية الحادة الوخيمة 2 (فيروس سارس)، أو ما يعرف باسم فيروس كورونا 2 (SARS-CoV-2)، وهو الفيروس التاجي بيتا البشري الموصوف حديثًا، ومن ثم سُميَّ المرض المرتبط به بمرض الفيروس التاجي 2019 (كوفيد-19) [1]. ومنذ بدء الجائحة، بلغ عدد المصابين بالفيروس أكثر من 371 مليون حالة إصابة مؤكدة وحوالي 5.53 مليون حالة وفاة [2].

Two years ago, the world was shaken by a surge of patients with an illness of unknown cause that rapidly affected nearly every country. The culprit causing the outbreak was identified as the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), a newly described human beta coronavirus, and hence the associated disease was termed the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) [1]. Since the pandemic began, there have been over 371M confirmed infected cases and around 5.6M deaths [2].

Nearly 30 scientists and researchers from various colleges and institutes at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) have been named among the top two percent of the most-cited scientists worldwide in various disciplines. They feature on a new global list compiled by Stanford University and leading publisher Elsevier.

أجرى معهد قطر لبحوث الطب الحيوي، التابع لجامعة حمد بن خليفة، مؤخرًا، برنامجه التدريبي المدرسي الأول لطلاب الصفين الثاني عشر والثالث عشر من مدرسة الدوحة البريطانية والمدرسة الأمريكية في الدوحة. وأتاح البرنامج للطلاب الطامحين في أن يصبحوا علماء إمكانية التعرف على المزيد من المعلومات عن العمل المبتكر الذي يقوم به المعهد وقدَّم خبرات بحثية عملية لهم.
