The College of Public Policy (CPP) has recently become a Gold Member of The Journal of Comparative Policy Analysis, which is affiliated to the International Comparative Policy Analysis Forum (ICPA). 

Founded in 2010, the ICPA is an international network of scholars dedicated to advancing and encouraging the exchange of ideas, research, and other activities relating to comparative analytical policy studies.

When we speak of public policy in the Arab World, many would have heard of this branch of learning, yet perhaps fewer would be able to associate with it.

But this trend is quickly changing as nations worldwide become increasingly aware of the service policy pays at the micro and macro levels. The field, which is gaining traction in the global pursuit towards peace and prosperity, is critical for governments not only looking to align with their moral compass, but also implement workable and comprehensive frameworks for the betterment of their societies.

Faculty from the College of Islamic Studies (CIS) recently delivered a short course to students at Prince Songkla University (PSU) in the Kingdom of Thailand. A recurrent theme emerged from a series of workshops and public lecture recently presented at Hamad Bin Khalifa University by Dr. Salman Sayyid, Professor of Decolonial Thought and Social Theory at the University of Leeds, and that is the need to question the structural foundation of Islamic Studies as a discipline. It is no surprise. Decolonial thought is about challenging Western colonial power, which perpetuates domination through knowledge production.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation, celebrated the graduation of its Class of 2019 during a ceremony held at Qatar National Convention Centre on Saturday, May 4, attended by Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation, and Chairperson of HBKU’s Board of Trustees.
