The College of Islamic Studies (CIS) was founded as a hub for contemporary Islamic studies, fostering intellectual discourse on Islam within a global framework. Offering ten graduate and postgraduate programs, CIS prepares students for careers in academia, research, and cultural, business, and finance sectors through specialized tracks. It also hosts renowned research centers and clusters, facilitating interdisciplinary dialogue and scholarship. CIS integrates academic Islamic principles with modern social sciences, emphasizing collaboration, innovation, and scholarship.
The College of Islamic Studies (CIS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University is seeking a dynamic and innovative academic for the Associate Professor in Learning Design, Innovation, and Technology position. The ideal candidate will be an experienced academic with a strong background in educational technology, learning design, and innovative teaching methodologies, particularly within a comparative education framework with an Islamic civilizational worldview.
- Design and deliver high-quality teaching in Learning Design, Educational Technology, and Innovation for graduate and postgraduate students in the Comparative Education programs.
- Develop and implement research-based, innovative, and effective teaching strategies that incorporate Islamic and global educational approaches.
- Contribute to curriculum design and enhancement in the M.A. in Comparative Education program.
- Conduct and publish high-impact research in the fields of educational technology, learning design, and comparative education.
- Supervise BA, M.A., and PhD theses and contribute to building a research culture within the College of Islamic Studies.
- Engage in interdisciplinary research projects that integrate Islamic and global perspectives on education.
- Lead initiatives to advance the use of technology and innovative learning strategies within the College.
- Collaborate with colleagues within the College of Islamic Studies and across HBKU to creatively promote technology integration in educational practices.
- Establish partnerships with educational institutions and industry to enhance the impact of the program and facilitate practical learning experiences for students.
- Participate in administrative roles within the College, including serving on committees and contributing to the development of academic policies and programs.
- Engage with the wider educational community in Qatar and internationally, promoting the program and its unique approach to comparative education.
- A Ph.D. in ‘Learning Design, Innovation, and Technology’ or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and curriculum development, particularly in learning design and technology.
- A strong record of research and publication in areas related to educational innovation, technology, and comparative education.
- Experience in integrating Islamic worldview into educational practices is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural academic environment.
- Experience in Learning Design, Innovation, and Technology.
- Proficiency in Arabic is an asset, but not required.
