The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) was established with a vision to enrich society in Qatar and across the wider world with transformative educational experiences that bridge disciplinary boundaries and offer the academic community opportunities to engage in innovative research and collaboration. HBKU’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) invites applications for the position of Dean. The dean will provide visionary leadership for the college in alignment with HBKU’s strategic plan and Qatar’s National Vision 2030, which focuses on economic, human, social, and environmental development.
- Develop and implement the college’s strategic plan, goals, and initiatives.
- Oversee and enhance the college’s academic programs to meet the evolving needs of students and Qatar society.
- Promote and support innovative research initiatives and interdisciplinary collaboration across HBKU and within Qatar Foundation's Education City.
- Recruit, support, and retain a diverse and high-caliber faculty.
- Cultivate strong relationships with external stakeholders (e.g., alums, government bodies, collaborating institutions, and industry partners).
- PhD in an area of social sciences or humanities.
- Must have earned the rank of professor at an established, well-recognized university.
- Proven experience in academic leadership, including successful administration, program development, and strategic planning.
- An excellent track record of scholarly research, publications, and funded research projects.
- A forward-thinking approach to the role of humanities and social sciences in addressing local, regional, and global challenges.
- A track record of engaging and collaborating with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the region and proficiency in the Arabic language are desirable.
