Founded in 2015, HBKU’s College of Law is a graduate-level law school located in Qatar Foundation’s Education City. The College of Law offers four degrees: Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Economic and Business Law, Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Law and Foreign Affairs, and Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.) It is a world-class provider of legal education with an international reputation for quality and innovation in teaching and research whose graduates contribute positively to shaping the legal profession and society in Qatar and beyond.
HBKU’s College of Law is seeking applications for the position of Lecturer. The successful candidate will be responsible for making a significant contribution to the College's teaching efforts, as well as undertaking research and administrative duties within a specialized subject area
- Prepare and deliver regular lectures for students.
- Actively participate in scholarly work production either individually or collectively with other scholars in the department/division/college.
- Conduct tutorial sessions, clinical sessions, seminars, and laboratory classes (where relevant).
- Guide class discussions, whilst encouraging debate and feedback amongst students.
- Prepare and mark student assignments, essays, and exams and provide one-on-one feedback on academic performance where necessary.
- Supervise the work of students, as well as tutorial staff.
- Attend departmental and faculty meetings with other staff members.
- Participate in degree development, curriculum revision, and academic planning committees.
- Conduct research into the specific field of knowledge/interest.
- Develop course-related materials for class teaching assignments.
- Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of a high-quality curriculum.
- Assist in the development of learning materials, preparing schemes of work, and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement, and attendance.
- Other reasonable tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- J.D, L.L.M or S.J.D degree & 4 years of relevant full-time work experience. Doctoral degree preferred.
- Show promise of potential excellence in teaching, curriculum development, pedagogy development, and scholarly achievements.
- Ability to work with diverse groups, cultures, and communities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and students.
- Maintain own continuing professional development.
- Potential to develop national and regional networks and collaboration in teaching and research.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
