College of Islamic Studies’ Faculty Contribute to New Book on Qatar’s FIFA 2022 Legacy

Two faculty members from the College of Islamic Studies have shared their expertise in a book about the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Dr. Evren Tok, Assistant Dean of Innovation and Community Engagement and Associate Professor of Islam and Global Affairs, and Dr. Bayen Khaled, research fellow, contributed a chapter titled “FIFA 2022: Qatar, The Legacy. Football is More Than a Sport and Qatar 2022 is More Than a World Cup”, to FIFA 2022: Qatar, the Legacy.

Released by Nova Science Publishers, the book covers a spectrum of subjects relevant to football, from sports infrastructure and elite athletes’ performance to the role of sports in health, media, and climate, and the sports enthusiast experience. The book was edited by Dr. M. Walid Qoronfleh, Executive Director, Q3 Consulting Group (Q3CG), and Dr. M. Mohamed Essa, Sultan Qaboos University, Oman.

In their chapter, Dr. Tok and Dr. Khaled explore the politics, ethics, and economics of football in a global world, with a focus on Qatar.

The book was published in June 2021, as part of the series “Sports and Athletics Preparation, Performance, and Psychology”. More information is available here: https://novapublishers.com/shop/fifa-2022-qatar-the-legacy/
