CPP Participates in IPPA Site Visit to University of Guadalajara

Dr. Leslia A. Pal, Founding Dean of CPP, joined an IPPA delegation in visit to University of Guadalajara to review a bid to host a 2024 IPPA conference.

Dr. Leslie A. Pal, Founding Dean of the College of Public Policy (CPP) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), joined an International Public Policy Association (IPPA) delegation to Mexico to review a bid for hosting the 2024 IPPA conference.

In his role as IPPA Treasurer, Dr. Pal first traveled with the team to the Colegia de Mexico, Mexico City, where he gave a lecture entitled “Global Citizenship: Sustainable Development Goals and Identity Politics in Global Policy-Making.” In his presentation, he outlined findings from “SDG Education and Global Citizenship in Qatar: Enhancing Qatar’s Nested Power in the Global Arena,” a Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF)-supported research project led by Dr. Evren Tok, Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for Community Engagement at HBKU’s College of Public Policy, and featuring his contribution  as a principal investigator.

The IPPA delegation then visited the University of Guadalajara, where Dr. Pal helped evaluate their bid to host the 2024 IPPA conference. He also took the opportunity to deliver a presentation and share insights from the research project to faculty, staff and students.

HBKU’s CPP is an Institutional Member of IPPA, a non-profit organization that is the world’s largest scholarly association for the study of public policy.
