HE Hend Abdalrahman Al Muftah gave talk on Qatar’s role in global governance
Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Public Policy (CPP) hosted HE Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations (UN) Office in Geneva Hend Abdalrahman Al Muftah for a special lecture on the country’s role in global governance.
Over the course of the discussion, HE Al Muftah drew upon her professional experiences working at the UN to provide the audience insights into new emerging dynamics, trends in enhancing international order, and managing cross-border issues.
HE also highlighted the challenges faced by both state and non-state actors as they work to facilitate intergovernmental collaboration in order to address matters of international significance and also enforce laws to ensure global stability.
The lecture gave faculty, staff, and students from HBKU’s CPP the opportunity to absorb relevant insights from a prominent actor on the international stage, supplementing their studies in the College’s postgraduate programs with practical experiences forged within the highest diplomatic circles.
“HE Al Muftah’s experience working to help shape Qatar’s role in global governance provided our community a glimpse into the vast apparatus within which policymakers must operate as they work with peers to have a positive impact on their communities. As a global hub for international public policy education and research, HBKU’s CPP actively leverages local and transnational synergies and collaborations with distinguished partners in the government, non-government, corporate, and organizational sectors,” said Dr. Leslie A. Pal, Dean, HBKU’s CPP.
