HBKU Press Launches New Book at Innovation Cafe
The book tackled entrepreneurship subjects

On February 9, 2022, Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKU Press) launched Localizing Entrepreneurship Education, by Dr. Evren Tok, Assistant Dean of Innovation and Community Engagement and Associate Professor of Islam and Global Affairs at HBKU’s College of Islamic Studies, and Dr. Asmaa Al Fadala, Director of Research and Content Development at WISE, in a discussion and a book signing ceremony at the Innovation Café in The Pearl.

The English language book examines the critical question of entrepreneurship and whether it should be guided by morals or by turning a profit, while highlighting the necessity for an immediate response to create a balance between traditional and modern fast-moving economies, using the State of Qatar as an example.

“HBKU Press is committed to providing a platform for researchers to share their work and ideas. We encourage the publication of research in the format of academic books to make the content more accessible to the public,” explained Bachar Chebaro, Executive Director of HBKU Press. “This book provides key insight into drivers of the local entrepreneurship landscape that will be beneficial to readers from both a local and international audience alike.”

It highlights the necessity of creating a balance between global and local practices, mindsets and experiences. The book’s editors and contributors presented an interdisciplinary, engaging, and contemporary portrayal of the intersections between entrepreneurship and education.”

Dr. Tok went on to highlight the instrumental role HBKU Press played in elevating the work during the editorial process.

“HBKU Press provided cutting edge guidance during the publication process. Editors of the book benefited immensely from the editorial and content-related support,” he said.

Ramzan Al Naimi, Innovation Café founder, commented on the suitability of the space for the launch of the book due to their shared aims, stating: “Innovation Café is a collaborative community of innovators, digital devotees, creatives and entrepreneurs sharing knowledge and skills and helping each other to transform ideas and dreams into actions in an environment of creativity and innovation. This book aligns with our mission and we were happy to host the authors and the publisher, all of whom contribute to the type of forward-thinking ecosystems that we are devoted to empowering.”
