On Monday, April 25th, The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hamad Bin Khalifa University. This agreement comes within the framework of Ashghal’s strategic plan to meet its needs for targeted development and training programs, and Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s commitment to provide support through education to the national government and to public institutions of Qatar by helping build and develop their human resources. The MoU between Ashghal and Hamad Bin Khalifa University is considered to provide a strategic framework for cooperation between both sides to achieve their goals, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
The MoU was signed by H.E. Eng. Nasser Bin Ali Al Mawlawi, President of the Public Works Authority, and Dr. Ahmad Hasnah, President of Hamad Bin Khalifa University, and the ceremony was attended Mr. Saif Ali Al Kaabi, Manager of the Human Resources Department at Ashghal, and from HBKU Eng. Soud Al Tamimi, Vice President – Operations, Ms. Maryam Hamad Al Mannai, Vice President– Student Affairs, and Mr. Rodolphe Abou-Ghaba, Executive Director – HBKU Executive Education Center, along with a number of managers and officials from the Public Works Authority and Hamad Bin Khalifa University.
At the beginning of the signing ceremony, H.E. the President of the Public Works Authority gave a speech in which he expressed his delight with the collaboration between Ashghal and Hamad Bin Khalifa University. H.E. stated that the authority is always keen to enhance collaboration, cooperation, and partnership with the education sector through implementing initiatives and scholarship programs, providing work opportunities for students of local universities, in addition to implementing educational projects.
Dr. Ahmad Hasnah, President of Hamad Bin Khalifa University, spoke with enthusiasm about the strategic collaboration between the university and the Public Works Authority, pointing out that this collaboration will pave the way for a broader and more comprehensive collaboration. He also noted that Hamad Bin Khalifa University will be among the main sources for training and development programs needed by Ashghal, and that Ashghal’s employees will be offered a number of preferential benefits by the University, this is in addition to benefiting from tailor-made, carefully targeted executive programs.
On this occasion, H.E. the President of the Public Works Authority commented: “There is a continuous collaboration and cooperation between Ashghal and the education sector in Qatar. This agreement will represent strategic collaboration and joint efforts to put a comprehensive and intensive training and development plans that meet the needs of the Public Works Authority.”
Dr. Hasnah added: “It is of great strategic importance to us at HBKU that we provide access to high-quality education in Qatar in order to support Qatar and Qatari organizations such as Ashghal that are committed to building Qatar’s future. In signing this Memorandum of Understanding between Ashghal and Hamad Bin Khalifa University, we are demonstrating our own commitment to building the knowledge capacity of the nation.
“Looking to the future, we plan to pursue initiatives together that are founded on the shared goals and purposes expressed in the MoU. As a university with a clear mission to develop the knowledge capacity of Qatar, we look forward to supporting Ashghal by providing educational services and training of the highest quality.”
The Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Public Works Authority and Hamad Bin Khalifa University aims at securing Ashghal’s needs for the training and development programs provided by the university, as well as enhancing fruitful collaboration between the two parties. This is in addition to the authority’s keenness to depend on national entities who provide educational, administrative, and professional programs as a main source for the training and development programs needed by Ashghal. The agreement establishes a platform for knowledge sharing, academic learning, and professional development, for both Ashghal and HBKU.
