‘Celebrating Diversity’ was the theme of Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) recent Diplomatic Day. Organized by HBKU Student Affairs, the event also provided a valuable platform for cultivating relations between students, faculty and Qatar-based diplomatic staff.

Held October 27, Diplomatic Day began with a welcoming speech by HBKU the VP of Student Affairs, Ms. Maryam Al-Mannai. Participants were also briefed on the University’s current research activities, as well as the work of Student Affairs. To reflect Diplomatic Day’s focus on diversity, facts and figures were provided highlighting the number of international students enrolled at HBKU alongside international partnerships fostered by its colleges and institutes.
The event also provided attendants with ample high-level networking opportunities.

Speaking after the event, Ms. Maryam Hamad Al Mannai, Vice President of Student Affairs, HBKU, said: “Diplomatic Day was about more than enhancing relationships and establishing new contacts among Doha’s diplomatic community. It was also about highlighting the University’s commitment to diversity and multilateralism. From faculty staff and students, to increasingly close ties with internationally-recognized academic institutions, HBKU is very much a global university. We’re confident that Qatar’s diplomatic staff will convey this positive message in their own countries.”
