HBKU holds information session on computer engineering bachelor’s degree program on December 9th

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), invites prospective high school students and their families to an interactive information session on its Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. The event will take place at the HBKU Student Center at 6.30pm on December 9th and will offer attendees the opportunity to meet with faculty members from HBKU’s College of Science and Engineering. Representatives from HBKU’s Student Recruitment Department will also be on site to discuss the admissions process and necessary tests students must take in order to apply.

In line with HBKU's multidisciplinary focus, the Computer Engineering program's dynamic approach will draw on the expert knowledge of its partner institutions alongside its own faculty. The program covers both hardware and software, and students are able to take courses provided by Texas A&M University at Qatar and Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, in addition to a comprehensive range of course offerings from HBKU.

Computer engineering graduates are highly in demand. For instance, the role of computer systems analyst, which a computer engineering graduate is qualified to undertake, is currently ranked in the top five most sought after job for graduates. Dr. Amine Bermak, Professor at the College of Science and Engineering at HBKU, noted: “In today’s world, a computer engineer is responsible for developing, designing, testing and evaluating the software and hardware not only for computers, but also for smart portable computing and communication devices and embedded systems.

“HBKU’s degree aims to produce globally competitive computer engineering professionals for Qatar, the region, and the wider world.”

Safiya Jan, who is currently enrolled in the bachelors in computer engineering, commented on her experience: “Computer engineering is a field of vast potential. I can say without a doubt, the program is extremely engaging and challenging. Although it is a lot of hard work, the whole experience is fun and exciting.”

Students in grades 11 and 12 who are interested in learning more about the degree are invited to RSVP for the information session at www.hbku.edu.qa/infosession.
