Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development (QF), was founded in 2010 to continue fulfilling QF’s vision of unlocking human potential. QF employees and their families have full access to Education City’s well-equipped indoor and outdoor facilities for recreation, sports and fitness, and social activities. In addition, libraries and a modern museum offer the campus community the space and resources for personal development and cultural activities.

Situated in a stunning 980,000 square-meter horseshoe-shaped design, this equine center has many distinctive architectural elements, hosting state-of-the-art facilities for horse welfare, breeding, equine education, and research.
Holding a studio, a multipurpose indoor hall, a swimming pool, a mixed fitness room, and an activity room, this building serves as a center of recreation for the QF community.
A long-standing center of the Education City community, the EC Club House hosts regular movie screenings and recreational events for children and adults. Its wide range of leisure amenities include a fitness center, outdoor pool, badminton court, tennis court, and much more.
Offering a comprehensive selection of Arabic and English academic collections, the HBKU Library is a gateway to the latest library technologies and collections, while also catering to the specialized research needs of both undergraduate and postgraduate scholars alike. Located in a renovated former school building in Education City, the museum holds over 9,000 artworks in an inspiring space for dialogue and scholarship about modern and contemporary art in the region.
Located in the center of Education City, Multaqa serves as the campus student center – a hub for both formal and informal interaction among students, faculty, and staff. It houses the HBKU Student Life offices in addition to a growing selection of restaurants, cafes, and other recreational facilities including an indoor basketball court, fitness center, bowling alley, and arcade room.
This lush 130,000-square-meter park serves as an oasis for the campus community and the general public. Its impressive landscape design combines sports, recreation, and heritage to offer visitors a unique experience, whether they want to take a leisurely walk under cascading waterfalls, use the running track or visit its multiuse sports pitches.
A milestone achievement for Qatar’s cultural and educational sector, Qatar National Library (QNL) is a public library that boasts an impressive collection of over one million print books, heritage materials, e-journals, e-books, audiobooks, magazines, newspapers, and multimedia. Special features include the QNL Heritage Library, Children’s and Young Adults’ Library, a Writing Center, Innovation Stations, assistive technology space, and collaborative study rooms.
Those looking to engage in fitness or swimming classes can visit the Recreation Center, which offers a wide variety of options for both adults and children through its mixed and female gyms, athletic courts, and indoor swimming pool. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf on the ground floor offers a cozy spot for a meal and drinks.

Getting around Education City is made easier with several free shuttle bus services that run between campus buildings throughout the day. Below is a brief guide to these services.
Another way of getting around is the Education City Tram, which was launched recently as part of QF’s ongoing vision to make Education City more open, accessible, and environmentally friendly. The tram will not only provide an important service to the community, but also encourage visitors. You can find a map outlining the routes here.
