A CIS Research Student Journal
The Astrolabe: A CIS Student Research Journal is an annual publication that seeks to highlight the applied nature of Islamic Studies and showcases our students’ voices from the fields of Shari’a, Qur’anic Studies, Islamic Ethics, Islamic Art, Education, Islamic Finance, and Social Sciences.
The Astrolabe is a scholarly rendition of the ancient astronomical instrument, through which students navigate contemporary debates of interest based on solid theoretical grounds and empirical research. The journal will continue to discover possibilities between the various disciplines and sciences to enrich our communities and readers with fresh perspectives, new solutions, and thought-provoking ideas.
The Astrolabe journal showcases the intersectionality of Islamic thought across various fields of study. In these pages, you will encounter academic explorations and debates from the perspective of our graduate students, which demonstrate the relevance of rooting our viewpoints in the Islamic faith and the clarity it provides in addressing complex challenges of our time.
