The Translation and Interpreting Institute (TII), part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), is to host an Accessible Hospitality and Events workshop from January 6 - 9, 2019. 

Dr. Josélia Neves, a professor at TII, CHSS, who teaches the Masters in Audiovisual Translation program, will lead the workshop, which aims to introduce participants to the requirements of making a hospitality venue universally accessible through a holistic communicative approach.

His Excellency António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, delivered an insightful lecture at Hamad Bin Khalifa University on Sunday, December 16, attracting more than 375 guests, including students, faculty and diplomats. What turned out to be an engaging and very open talk was held under the headline of The Importance of Multilateralism in a Time of Unprecedented Challenges.

Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), today attended a lecture by United Nations (UN) Secretary-General H.E. Mr. António Guterres on ‘The Importance of Multilateralism in a Time of Unprecedented Challenge’.

Hosted by Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of QF, at Education City, the event was also attended by Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of HBKU. 

شارك ثلاثة من كبار علماء معهد قطر لبحوث البيئة والطاقة بجامعة حمد بن خليفة، مع الوفد القطري في النسخة الرابعة والعشرين من مؤتمر الأطراف في اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة الإطارية بشأن تغير المناخ، الذي عُقد مؤخرًا بمدينة كاتوفيتش البولندية. وعرض العلماء العمل الذي يؤديه المعهد في مجالات أبحاث الطاقة، والبيئة، والأمن المائي، وتطويرها. 

Three senior representatives from Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), part of Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU), were members of the Qatari delegation at the 24th Conference of the Parties (COP24) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) recently held in Katowice, Poland. The team of scientists showcased the work that QEERI is doing in the spheres of energy, environment and water security research and development. 

استضافت كلية الدراسات الإسلامية بجامعة حمد بن خليفة، مؤخرًا، محاضرة عامة بعنوان "الاقتصاد الدائري: التطلعات، والحقائق، والفرص"، لمناقشة النهج متعدد الأبعاد في رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030، ودوره في دعم تحول الاقتصاديات الخطية إلى أخرى دائرية.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Islamic Studies (CIS) recently held a public lecture entitled Circular Economy: Aspirations, Realities and Opportunities to discuss the multidimensional approach of Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV2030) to support the transformation from linear to circular economies. Dr. Tariqullah Khan, professor and coordinator of the PhD program in Islamic Finance and Economy offered at CIS, highlighted the new perspective on resource management and opportunities for entrepreneurship within QNV2030.

استضافت كلية القانون والسياسة العامة بالتعاون مع محكمة قطر الدولية ومركز تسوية المنازعات، وكلية القانون بجامعة كوين ماري في لندن، أول مؤتمر دولي عن المحاكم المختلطة. نُظم المؤتمر بدعم من الصندوق القطري لرعاية البحث العلمي، وشركة "وايت آند كيس" للمحاماة في الدوحة، وشركة 3Vb (3 مباني فيرولام / جرايز إن، لندن). تناول المؤتمر فكرة تأسيس تلك المحاكم، وتحليل العلاقة بين هذه المحاكم المختلطة والنماذج الأخرى الأكثر رسوخًا لمؤسسات تسوية المنازعات مثل المحاكم العادية وهيئات التحكيم. 

The College of Law and Public Policy (CLPP), in collaboration with the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) and Queen Mary University London School of Law, hosted the world’s first conference on hybrid courts. It was supported by Qatar National Research Fund, White & Case, Doha and 3VB (3 Verulam Buildings/Gray’s Inn, London). The conference studied the idea behind the establishment of these courts and investigated the relationship between hybrid courts and more established forms of dispute resolution, such as ordinary courts and arbitral tribunals.
