Dean of CPP to Take Part in Upcoming Dialogue Through Film (DtF) Workshop
Dr. Leslie Pal, founding dean of the College of Public Policy (CPP), will be one of the moderators of the Dialogue Through Film (DtF) workshop “Exploring the Water-Energy-Food Nexus in the Gulf Region” on May 9.
The DtF program is an initiative of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, an exciting new way to conduct engaging policy-based discussions through film. The workshop will be based on a short film developed by the Ministry which centers around the fictitious Gulf island country of Al Waha, which is facing a prolonged drought that forces the country to confront its resource challenges and complex interdependencies.
The themes of the film are aimed at raising awareness about the importance of tackling the challenge of water, energy, and food security, particularly in the context of climate change and increasing global uncertainty. Dr. Pal, as well as speakers from the Qatar Environment and Energy Institute (QEERI), HBKU, and the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, will lead the youth in discussions based on scenes from the film.
Taking place virtually, the workshop is open to all youth based in the Gulf Region, 18-28 years of age, whether current students, fresh graduates or young professionals.
