CPP Organizes Visit by Fall 2023 Eminent Visiting Policy Scholar

Dr. Osmany Porto de Oliveira delivered discussion on the drivers and global impact of Brazil’s foreign policy

Dr. Leslie Pal, Dean, CPP, attends the public lecture conducted by Dr. Osmany Porto de Oliveira, CPP’s Fall 2023 Eminent Visiting Policy Scholar.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Public Policy (CPP) welcomed Dr. Osmany Porto de Oliveira, Assistant Professor, Department of International Relations, Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) as its Fall 2023 Eminent Visiting Policy Scholar.

Over the course of his visit, Dr. de Oliveira participated in several classes,  gave lectures and regularly engaged with the College’s faculty, staff, and students. He also held a public lecture and led an open discussion on the drivers and global impact of  Brazil’s  foreign policy. Dr. de Oliveira’s presentation also offered insights on how Qatar could strengthen its position as a policy leader on the international stage. 

Commenting on the importance of the visit, Dr. Leslie Pal, Dean, CPP said: “Dr. de Oliveira’s presence in Doha is the latest milestone in the College’s efforts to expose its students to the very best and latest thinking in public policy research from around the world. His visit further underscores the CPP’s ability to attract highly-established local and international faculty with deep practice insight and academic expertise in policy research and public administration.”

The College of Public Policy (CPP) accomplishes HBKU’s priority to contribute to effective policy development, evaluation and dialogue in support of QNV 2030. It provides a uniquely situated venue for public conversation in Qatar, and a center for teaching and researching responses to policy questions of local and global relevance.
