Dr. Househ recognized for pedagogical contributions to the health information sciences
Dr. Mowafa Househ, Professor, Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Science and Engineering (CSE) won “Best Educator of the Year” at the ZIMAM Digital Health Awards 2024.
An authority on health informatics in the Arab world, Dr. Househ’s research focuses on the use of information and communication technologies, such as social media platforms, to promote public health awareness and healthcare literacy while also empowering patients and clinicians.
It is the latest achievement in Dr. Househ’s illustrious career, with past honors including the King Abdullah International Medical Research Centre Researcher Award, Saudi Arabia, 2015; the MBC Hope Awards for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship, United Arab Emirates, 2015; and the Northern British Columbia Healthcare in Technology Award, Canada, 2007.
Held as part of the 7th GCC eHealth Workforce Development Conference (eHWDC 2024) in Dubai, the ZIMAM Digital Health Awards 2024 recognizes individuals and organizations who drive innovation and demonstrate leadership in the digital health space.
Commenting on the achievement, Dr. Mounir Hamdi, Dean, CSE, said: “This award reflects Dr. Househ’s dedication to facilitating regional knowledge exchanges in the field of health information sciences. It is also a testament to our faculty’s collective dedication to conducting high-impact research in areas exceedingly critical for national and global progression.”
As a member of the CSE faculty, Dr. Househ engages and leads in research disciplines of national and global importance, collaborating with his colleagues to innovate and find solutions to the most pressing issues for Qatar and the world.
