In January, Qatar announced its ambitious plans to develop the Al Kharsaah photovoltaic plant, a solar energy site that is the first step towards the country’s long-term objective to produce 20 percent of its electricity through solar energy by 2030.
Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University, is playing an integral role in conducting key research in helping the country harness the power of the sun, which is in abundance all year round. The institute is working alongside the winning bidders – France’s Total and Japan’s Marubeni – and KAHRAMAA to provide key data and measurability to ensure optimization in developing the solar plant as part of the Siraj project.

Letter of Understanding signed at 1st Gulf Autism Conference
The expertise of Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) in the field of autism is set to grow following the signing of a Letter of Understanding (LoU) with Oman’s Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).

خلال منتدى الدوحة 2019، عقدت كلية السياسات العامة جلسة نقاشية حول قدرة الحكومات على الاستجابة للصدمات الخارجية ببراعة ومرونة. وقد أدار الدكتور ليزلي بال، عميد كلية السياسات العامة، الجلسة التي عقدت تحت عنوان: "المرونة والحوكمة والسياسات العامة في القرن الحادي والعشرين". وناقشت الجلسة جوانب محددة تتعلق بالمرونة وأهميتها في تفعيل الحوكمة في القرن الحادي والعشرين. وكان من بين المشاركين في هذه الجلسة الدكتور أندرياس ريتشكيمر، الأستاذ بالكلية.
The College of Public Policy (CPP) held a panel session at the Doha Forum 2019 about the ability of governments to respond to external shocks with agility and resilience. Dr. Leslie Pal, CPP dean, moderated the panel, titled ‘Resilience, Governance and Public Policy for the 21st Century’. The session discussed specific aspects of resilience and its importance to effective 21st century governance. Among the panelists was Dr. Andreas Rechkemmer, a senior professor at the college.
