CPP Announces HE Dr. Mutlaq Al Qahtani as Distinguished Visiting Professor
His Excellency Dr. Mutlaq bin Majed Al Qahtani, Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Counterterrorism and Mediation in Conflict Resolution, will accept the Professorship.
Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Public Policy (CPP) announced that His Excellency (HE) Dr. Mutlaq bin Majed Al Qahtani, Special Envoy of the State of Qatar’s Minister of Foreign Affairs for Counterterrorism and Mediation in Conflict Resolution, will serve as a “Distinguished Visiting Professor of Public Value.”
HE Dr. Al Qahtani’s diplomatic work earned him the Universal Peace Federation’s Ambassador of Peace Award in 2015 and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research’s Award for Best Negotiator in 2020. Previously, HE served as Director of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences at Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as the Chief de Cabinet of the Presidency of the United Nations General Assembly’s 66th session.
HE Dr. Al Qahtani holds a Ph.D in international law from the UK, and LL.M in international law from the USA. He has published extensively in scholarly legal journals on various issues including peace, cooperation, the jurisprudence of the International Court of Justice, and the enforcement of international law.
Launched in 2022, CPP’s “Distinguished Visiting Professor of Public Value” invites internationally renowned scholars and practitioners in the field of public policy to collaborate with HBKU faculty on groundbreaking policy research and engage with their students.
