CPP Faculty Puts Public Policy in Focus in Acclaimed New Book

Public policy and its theories, methods, and applications – especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic – is put under the spotlight in a comprehensive and critically acclaimed new book co-edited by two leading academics at the College of Public Policy (CPP).

Dr. Leslie A. Pal, founding dean of CPP, and Dr. Anis Ben Brik, associate professor, co-edited and contributed to the latest work in the popular New Horizons in Public Policy series. Dr. Andreas Rechkemmer, professor at CPP, also contributed a key chapter on global sustainability and climate change.

Published by Edward Elgar Publishing and titled The Future of the Policy Sciences, the progressive-thinking book examines the future of public policy as a discipline, both as it is taught and as it is practiced. Critically assessing the limits of current theories and approaches, a host of leading scholars in the field highlight new models and perspectives.

Among the areas discussed by the 16 contributing experts are the future of policymaking, policy advice, implementation and governance considering the COVID-19 pandemic, and how public compliance and popular support have been eroded by the world’s worst health crisis since the Spanish flu a century ago. The book, which is available via https://www.e-elgar.com/shop/gbp/the-future-of-the-policy-sciences-9781800376472.html, has received praise from scholars worldwide.
